The Lateral Spar spanning between the floats is a key design feature of aerdisc® because it performs multiple functions. It literally is the backbone of the pontoon structure because it allows a completely open discharge, while countering the thrust generated by the aerator in operation. The Lateral Spar also allows each float to move independently of the other, during startup and operation, while remaining perfectly parallel.
